Experience Superior Quality Paver Installation
Choosing Nova Remodeling for your paver installation means saying goodbye to ugly, cracked concrete forever. In San Diego, soil movement and tree roots often destroy poured concrete slabs within a few years. Interlocking pavers are a superior solution because they are flexible; they can shift slightly with the earth without cracking. Unlike landscapers who just lay stones on dirt, we are construction experts who focus 80% of our effort on the sub-base foundation. We deliver a driveway, patio, or pool deck that drains properly, supports your vehicles, and boosts your home’s value instantly.
Why we are the preferred choice
Certified Installers
We follow industry standards. Our team is trained by the Interlocking Concrete Pavement Institute, ensuring we use the correct installation patterns and edge restraints to prevent shifting over time.
Deep Base Preparation
The secret is underneath. We excavate deeper than competitors and install a thick, compacted road-base foundation, ensuring your driveway won't sink or rut under the weight of heavy vehicles.
Premium Stone Selection
We offer the best. Choose from Belgard, Angelus, or ornate travertine options. Our pavers are cured to resist chipping, salt erosion, and the fading effects of the intense San Diego sun.
Polymeric Sand Locking
We say no to weeds. We finish every job with high-quality polymeric sand that hardens like grout between the joints, locking the pavers in place and preventing weed growth and ant hills.
Seamless Paving Installation Steps
1
Demolition And Excavation
We start with heavy lifting. We break up your old cracked concrete or grass and dig down 6 to 10 inches to remove unstable soil and prepare the site for a solid foundation.
2
Base Compaction Phase
We build the strength. We install layers of crushed road base, watering and vibrating it with heavy plate compactors to create a rock-hard, level surface that will never settle.
3
Precision Paver Laying
Our skilled masons go to work. We hand-lay the pavers in your chosen pattern (herringbone, basketweave, etc.), cutting the borders precisely to fit your property lines and curves.
4
Sand And Seal
We conclude with protection. We sweep in polymeric sand to lock the joints and apply a commercial-grade sealer to enhance the color and protect the stones from oil stains and tire marks.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long does it take to install a paver driveway?
A typical residential paver driveway installation in San Diego takes between three to five days to complete. The first day involves demolition and hauling away the old concrete or asphalt. The next two days are dedicated to excavating the soil and installing the compacted road base, which is the most critical step. The final days are for laying the pavers, cutting the borders, and sanding the joints.
Why are pavers better than poured concrete?
Pavers are superior to poured concrete primarily because they do not crack. Concrete is a rigid slab that will inevitably crack due to ground movement, tree roots, or temperature changes. Interlocking pavers are a “flexible pavement system,” meaning they have individual joints that allow them to move with the earth without breaking. If a paver ever gets damaged, you can simply replace that single stone rather than patching a whole slab.
Will weeds grow between my pavers?
In the past, weeds were a common issue, but modern installation techniques have solved this. We use a high-tech material called “polymeric sand” to fill the joints between the pavers. When activated with water, this sand hardens like a flexible grout or glue. It creates a solid barrier that prevents weed seeds from taking root and stops ants from burrowing up through the cracks, keeping your patio low maintenance.
Can you drive heavy vehicles on pavers?
Absolutely. In fact, interlocking pavers are capable of withstanding much heavier loads than standard concrete driveways. The key is in the base preparation. We install a 6 to 8-inch layer of compacted road base underneath the pavers, which distributes the weight of SUVs, trucks, and RVs evenly. This ensures that the driveway will not sink, rut, or form tire tracks over time.
Do I need to seal my pavers?
While sealing is not strictly mandatory for the structural integrity of the installation, we highly recommend it. A quality sealer enhances the natural colors of the stone, giving it a “wet look” or a matte finish depending on your preference. More importantly, it creates a protective layer that repels oil drips, tire marks, and BBQ grease, making stains much easier to clean off.
How do I clean my pavers?
Pavers are very low maintenance. For general cleaning, simply sweeping them and rinsing with a garden hose is sufficient. If you spill food or oil, spot cleaning with a mild detergent and a stiff brush works well. If you chose to seal your pavers, most stains will wipe right up. We recommend avoiding harsh acids, but pressure washing on a low setting is safe if done carefully.
